A reflection on how success doesn’t always feel like success. Three pieces of good news, three unexpected reactions, and the strange weight of being human.
Paul, what is the point of working towards these things if you can’t celebrate when you achieve them? Your photography is incredible and the recognition is different places is very well deserved. More gloating please!
I call it imposter syndrome. It starts with I’m not (fill in the blank), smart enough, talented enough, experienced enough, don’t have anything to say people want to hear, etc. If you think you are an imposter, it’s hard to enjoy the accolades. I don’t know a lot about photography other than an image that moves me or makes me feel something when I see it. It’s the “it” factor and you have it 😁
There is a line in a song called 'Black Dog' by Arlo Parks that sums it up: "It's so cruel, what your mind can do for no reason". I'll share the photo at some point for sure. Thank you for reading!
